Hey guys, ive been lurkin the pub fer awhile.. just wanted to know whats the deal with hippies. ive been raised in a very anti hippy environment.. i think i share some things in common with you, but im just wondering what exactly makes a hippy??

IMO what makes a hippie is that unconditional love for all living things. It's not the GD, pot, or long hair though those are pupular in hippie culture (or atleast thats what everyone seems to think).

I never said I was a hippie. I dont think Im a hippie. I wouldnt classify myself as anything. But I believe in peace over any kind of violence, I listen to the dead, I go to festivals and follow shows.

And hippies can listen to whatever they want. I dont think you can profile a hippie just because they listen to something other then hippie music.

personaly, I don't think there are hippies anymore. First, Hippies was derived from the word Hip, and they hippies were just hip people. Because it was a cool mainstrem attitude. And the fact is, fuck mainstream attitudes. There are people who live a hippiesque life; however, I find the rainbows to be the modern hippies.

I don't know, I don't like the word hippie.

Sure there is. You can love everyone around you. You can control how you feel about others. You can restrain yourself from making negative comments about people. How others respond is their deal, but you can have unconditional love for anything.

yes i have met a few of these such people. Hippy is a broad word, but i mean sice you are talking about unconditional love, i have met a saint or two in my times and the showed me thi light and the love.
