creating wireless relay

I have a wireless linksys router, I want to add an additional
one on the other end of the house that acts as a relay point
for the existing wireless network.

is this possible?

can I hardwire the router with an IP from the primary access
point, thereby creating a subnet off the main network?

i dont think so. if the signal you're getting from your router is too weak i think theres things called a "booster" you can buy. you might be able to hardwire/jerry rig shit, but it might get realllly fucking complicated.

im not really positive because networks fuck with me hardcore, it takes me a while to get the hang of them everytime i mess w/ them. just tryin to help tho.

You need a wireless repeater.  This is what the device is called.  PM me or post in Science & Technology if you can't find one.
