How to organize casings?
    #389909 - 09/10/01 12:56 AM (22 years, 2 months ago)

Read the thread where McMann and Ryche were debating the merits of "Using master spawn from a pure strain isolation, or from the dominant strain from a multi spore inoculation"

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=Forum2&Number=369888&page=2&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&part=all

It is all interesting and I think i understand what Ryche is saying. It makes sense. Still, here is a question about organizing casings. And take into account not just concern about "strain wars" but also maximizing yeild, being defensive against contams etc.

Suppose someone has 4 quart of rye and 8 1/2 pints of alien tek substrate, all inoculate from spore syringe (same strain). What would be the recommended organization of cases? Case all the rye together, separate? Case cakes separate from rye? Divide the cakes up into several cases?

Furthermore, if one creates several smaller cases instead of one big one, does it defeat the purpose by putting the smaller cases together in the same growing chamber?

I would case the cakes and the jars seperately. Yes, divide them up. No, you can put them all in the same terrarium.
