Due to a lack of space in the fruiting chamber I had to put my shiitake sawdust cakes with my Reishi grow. Two days later the shiitake blocks started pinning. It seems they like each other

Yea, very nice. I cloned a store bought shiitake, and have some grain just about ready to inoculate my sawdust/woodchip jars. Did you soak the substrate in anything for nutes?

I used the following recipe:
600 gr. Beech sawdust (from hardwood pellets) 300 gr. Beech chips 200 gr. Wheat bran 7 gr Lime
I soaked the chips for 24 hours. Than drained them for about an hour. Then I prepared the beech sawdust pellets adding 700 ml of boiling water and waiting until they crumbled. The sawdust, chips, bran and lime were mixed thoroughly and filled 5 half pint jars and a filterbag. Sterilized for 3 hours at 12psi. Inoculated with rye spawn.
I used the same substrate for both Reishi and Shiitake grows. After the Shiitake cakes turned chocolate brown, I took them out of the jars and dunked them for 24 hours in the fridge before putting them in the fruiting chamber. They started pinning within 3 days even though the temperature in the bin is 23 degrees C. I guess I have a shiitake strain that fruits at warm temperatures.
The shiitake fruits seemed small. Is this the result of the small size of the substrate blocs or could this be caused by the high temperature?
