I don't think so. People don't come here for OTD, and most people don't give a hoot about it. Just let them act immature and childish (its fun to just goof around - which is what they are doing), at least they do it there is not in the important forums like this one, the garden, mushroom cultivation, etc. etc.

You have to remember, most of the time, what is said in OTD isn't to be taken to heart.

It is one forum out of 26. There isn't negativity around here, it's concentrated into one forum. Yet again, don't go in the forum if you don't like it. You are starting to whine, and that's never a good thing. Do you act this way about everything you don't like? That's life, people/things will make you mad. Don't give it a second thought and you don't have anything to be upset about.

Yeah I don't like the negativity there but i understand they are just fucking around. I think the forum serves its purpose well though because you rarely see those posters on other forums, they usually keep it otd.

What are the "Morals" of the Shroomery, as a whole....?  And what is it that degrades them...?  People are people....  The Shroomery is about Shrooms and much more, but the message boards are about LIFE, and the people behind it....  Without the people, there would be no Shroomery....  There is room for everyone, no matter where they post.... 

I have read thru some posts at OTD, and even though the language is more vulgar, some of the people that frequent there are pretty damn clever....  Nuthin wrong with being vulgar, it is in our language....

Because the OTD only becomes available to members that have been here 30 days or posted 40 posts(or both maybe) If a member has been here for 30 days she they'll probably have a good idea by then the that OTD is a bullshit, playground forum and nothing to be taken seriously. Saying that OTD degrades the entire shroomery is like saying las vegas degrades the entire United States of America.

mattz I used to think like you at one point. I thought OTD was full of evil, and I wondered why it existed in such a seemingly out of place fashion on the Shroomery. I whined and cried about it (I'm not Italian), and tried to persuade the admin to shut the whole forum down, tried to lead a campaign.

But there was a lot of things I had overlooked. OTD exists as a place to take your negativity to, it's like a release valve so that there exists somewhere to take your negativity to so that you need not express it in any of the other organized forums.

So it's a ying for the yang, it's the hell that makes heaven possible. People of a negative nature gravitate there, and that effectively corrals them there away from the rest of the Shroomery.

Now there's roughly 50% there who seem hateful and evil, and there's the other 50% who are there to hear the grossest jokes or whatever, (like me), but if OTD were sanitized or gotten rid of, all the truly hateful birds would be dis-nested and come run amok over the rest of the Shroomery.

The shortened version of this, which you have been told, is if you don't dig it, stay out, but you could also do as I do and go there even when you don't like it, to confuse and frustrate the OTDers when they see that you wont leave. :lol:
