Hello to all
I've got a heating pad but it has no adjustable heat setting. Does anyone know how to add a thermostat or any other type of of electrical equipment to the heating pad so i can adjust my temp?

AS I failed Shop in H.S, my 'professional' opinion is, without rewiring it, i dont think you can. What you can do, if your as mechanically uninclined as I am, is get a reading from a therometer, on your warm setting, which is uaually 84-86 degrees anyway, and then add a towel if too hot. Eventually you will get the thickness between the pad and your tank at the right temp. Remember the thickness of the tank must also come into consideration when doing this.
As a big heat pad user, warm setting will work for all of your 'home heating' needs But as brands differ, and the age of the pad too , a few controled tests should help.

What you got to do is add barriers to stop the heat excess. What i do is simply use some books between the heating pad and my jars, it also could be applied to a terrarium or whatever. Look, it's fair simple, just think a bit about it, i have a thermometer to make my temp readings, all i do is add more books to get a drop in temp. till i get the disired one. The heating pad is inside a box and i make readings every 6 to 7 hours, never had a problem, i keep my jars allways between 78F and 86F using this technique.
Peace,

Here`s a link for a great thermostat...... I use my heating pad with this little guy. 2 degree variance shuts off and on and keeps those jars or cakes right where you want. a little spendy $39.99. plus $8.00 shipping but Hey.. if you want to do this"hobby' lol. right.. what da hell right? Here`s the link~~~>http://www.charleysgreenhouse.com/propgte5-mats.htm Scrool down till you get to the seedling mat thermostat. By the way. I`ve noticed much more rapid growth in my jars colonizing keeping my temps right where I want them:)
