air exchange question

im fruiting, i have read in the FAQs and also from your guy's input, that you should have a air pump with air-stone under your perlite in order to exchange the air. my question is how does this work? i am guessing that the air pump sucks in air from outside the enclosed rubbermaid and blows it through the air-stone, in turn pushing air past the cakes. but how does the air get out. i know i have to vent it but i can only do that a few times a day because otherwise the humidity is diminished. am i missing something here because im a little confused.

the air escapes because the container is not sealed. In the PMP setup I believe there is 2 holes drilled/cut in the lid.

I've also read that bubblewands work better than airstones.

just fan yourself, it does not take up much time. wave the lid to your rubbermaid over the container for one minute 4 times a day. this is jsut my opinion, i dont like having the work of growing done for me, i like to do it myself.

they are probably the same. but there is always a reason why something more expensive than others although i might not know why. maybe they just look better? that's one reason.
