I was wondering a few things about the hippie invitro tek, and I was hoping somebody would be able to help me out. 24 jars half treasure coast and half B+ is what im using, Ive grown shrooms once before using the pf tek with a poor mans terrarium and had ok results but was a bit lacked for space. The hippie tek sounded almost too good to be true. But what i wanna know is how do you know when to take the shrooms out of the jars, and also has anyone had good results with the retard tek

Man good question I was wondering the same also, just for those who don't know hippies tec is just the PF tec with 2 adjustments. 1. exposing your cakes to light while in the jars. and 2. just picking the little deformed shrooms that grow along side the inside of the glass. then puting the cakes back in the jars to fruit again. no terranium no hassle . So he says. I read that PF really likes this tec.. But like you said sounds to good and to easy to be true..( if you do run this experiment plz post your results. Drac.

This tek can be found at Mycotopia.net
I've never heard of the "retard tek" though.
My friend has done the invitro tek with 2 jars of Gulf Coast's. One jar is doing exceptionally well, with about 10 big shrooms growing in it so far (it's on it's first flush). The other jar is more cramped, and only 4 shrooms are growing and it looks like they've stopped growing.
Go to the Mushroom Picture forum, and check out my post called "CG Invitro/Birthed *UPDATE*. There's some pics of one of the cakes going invitro.
I believe it is better to birth any cake, even in a poor man's terrarium than to have the jar go invitro. But if you really don't have space or time to fan, etc. then the invitro tek is your best option. A lot of jars with multiple flushes will result in an average size yeild.
Oh, and you take the shrooms out of the jars when: They stop growing. (Try to get them before they rot). Or, when the caps open up.
