lighting without electrical wiring

I need a light source for an area that has no electrical outlets. I am considering using a tap light, has anyone used one with success? Also, I saw a small flashlight made by energizer that had a 4 inch flourescent tube on its side, which may work. Basically I am willing to spend a decent amount of money for a portable light source, if anyone has any ideas.

ANy light will do... Flashlights, flouro's, etc.
Are you planning to put this light into your terrarium? If so, then use a flashlight or there's these little lights that stick to things, they are very cheap; use those...

As long as the light is bright enough to let you see something in front of you, it's good enough... Mushrooms aren't pants, they don't need a 1000w HPS shining on them to grow...

I wonder if tap lights put out the right wavelength though. I haven't found any good flourescent lights yet. Maybe one of those portable jump start things, they have a dc converter, but they need to be recharged frequently.

we tried tap lights; they die within a day (battery life). theyre only meant to be on for a little while- not the hours we left them on for. battery-drainers. it sucks having to check in on your lightsource all the time. why not cut a hole in the lid of your terrarium, caulk it in place with plexiglass, and tape over that for a nice tight fit? use the ambient light of the room... they only need ambient light; a direction in which to grow- they wont need a powerful light source. (which is why we thought the taplites would be cool, but ... theyre not good for our purposes).
