Almost ready to pin!! I have a light question
    #617140 - 04/24/02 07:10 AM (21 years, 11 months ago)

YEY!!! ok...almost all of my jars are fully colonized. im just letting the others ones catch up. I have a question about lighting.
You know those circular push lights? the little ufo looking ones that you press and the turn on. and you can stick them anywhere...they are like 8 in. diameter.
Anyway, I have extension cords, light bulb and everything if this wont work, but id rather use that press light because it looks safe and will not start a fire.
The other one prob. wont either...but i dont like having it in the closet and not knowing what its doing. So, would this kind of light be ok? It wont generate anyheat, and isnt too strong. And ill put it close to my little friends.

here is my rendition - couldnt find a pick on the internet.

"So, would this kind of light be ok? "
Yes, but you're going to be buying a lot of batteries.
If you should decide to go with an extention cord, I'd avoid
a normal incandesent bulb. A small floresent is cheap at
Walmart and produces way less heat / fire hazard.
Hope that helps.

set of rechargable batteries and charger are about 10 buck and you'll be clicking it all the time anyhow. i think those things are easy on batteries too.

Ok, I must admit that I'm already prejudice against those
little lights.
I wired a pretty nice house (3989 sq. ft.) for and old man who
wanted the light to come one when he opened the closet door.
I installed switches in the door jams and when he went to
pic out his fixtures, he carried in a whole box full of those little
bastards. I thought my switches, wire, and effort were to go
to waste but I was back up there installing the new fixtures
for free a month later. (really I was kinda glad)
Now since mushrooms need very little light. I'm sure they would
work fine.
But those are about the dimmest, cheapest, little junky lights
that I've ever seen, and I would never invest in a charger to
get them to glow. A real floresent light would be about as
cheap as a charger.
If you notice, even the glare in the pic above is coming from
an external light source(nice touch by the way)
Please excuse my venting. I, in no way , meant it as a flame
to anyone(unless the inventor of those lights happens to be
reading this, then he can kiss my ass!)
