9th degree blackbelt cuts students' throat

Source: Maximum Exposure videotape
At a karate exhibition in Long Beach, CA, an advanced "Master" with a razor sharp sword attempts to cut a cucumber on a student's throat and ends up slicing the guy wide open. He wasn't killed, but was seriously hurt and bled all over.
You gotta love chi power and martial art mind mastery.

Interesting.
Perhaps the master interupted the natural flow of energy by wondering how many calories that cucumber contained... you can't just cut fat the way he cut that dude's throat...
Peace.

no it means being a master means jack shit... martial arts are fighting techniques... nothing more... a master is a good fighter but does not (as these demonstrartions tend to suggest) posess any superhuman powers or controll...
just about anything they do there is a trick of some sort... the blade here should prolly have been much duller then it was.
another example is the spear to the throat trick... it looks like he is bending the spear by pressing on the tip but he is actualy pressing down on the flat with his chin...
perlor tricks, sleight of hand... nothing more... master or not, its all the same bs... just another magician who fucked up...
u know the first such demonstrations in the west has led to just about every myth about asian supernatural powers...

Thats a pretty blanket generaliaztion based on one supposid 'masters' actions. I have myself witnessed many demonstartaions of chi force personally and am i no doubt as to its validity. There is no slight of hand when someone introduces you to energy first hand through direct experience.

im only commenting on the peaple who do these demo's specificly...
that 'master' should know better then to turn the art into circus act.
CHI is nothing more then kinetics... it works yes, but there is no mystical energy inviolved as we westerners have been bullshitted into believing... its simply a practice that has a great wealth of physics knowledge incorporated into it, as opposed to say boxing wich is severly retarded in comparison.
and before u ask, yes i have studies martial arts at one time...

vertigo9111:~you seem to be a master of mastering what being a master is!? open mouth insert foot. what, do you know?
you seem to know it all when it comes to Chi, and such, but how? when? where? do you learn such things? oh and tell Mike Tyson how retarded he is in comparison to some skinny ass "master" who nearly killed his own student!
you dont know chi(t)!

Yes turning it into a cricus act has no pratical application other than making money, but im afraid you cant ignore the selfish human condtion, even if you have highly developed chi-force. I have witnessed feats that go well beyond simple kenitics, which have encouraged me to practice more and realize that there are no limits to a human beings potential.
Calling it mystical or not has no significance once experienced directly and shown how such application of chi-force can be used to yeild amazing results.

have u ever even herd mike speak? comon dude... boxing IS retarded compared to the subtilties of martial arts... its like comparing running with dancing...
as for being a master on spottimng masters hell yeah i am! i can spot a fraud by the smell alone and one doesent needs to do alot of reasoning to figure out that some1 who takes a risk like that for the sake of entertainment should not ever be considered a 'masater'
ive seen some pretty amazing things but ive never felt the need to look for mysticism to explain it... i think we simply greatly underestimate our own capabilities.
ive seen a 12 year old girl break a 2x4 without hurting herself. and i think this can be completely explained with physics. not that that makes it any less impressive...
uriahchase dont be bitcing at me dude... im just offering an oppinion... got a better one? lets hear it... but dont talk down to me again if u want me to take you seriously...

"that 'master' should know better then to turn the art into circus act."
this is what I'm saying when i said "he wasn't a master then, now was he."
a true master is rare and wouldn't demonstrate his abilities for show.a master has overcome his ego and knows fully what he is capable of.

A true master demonstrates his abilities only to his students for mainly inspirational, healing or instruction purposes.

yeah yeah. a marathon runner trips while running a race... so much for cardio training and practice.
A master archer blinks in the sun and accidently shoots a bird. so much for mental focus and practice.
A master mathematician forgets to carry the one. so much for mathematical skills.
Anecdotal evidence, used to draw a faulty conclusion. Even the very best scew up occasionally, and when they do that does not really cast the discipline itself into any doubt.
Too bad about the kid gettin cut open tho.

once my sensei was showing the class how to make someone pass out by depressing their carotid arteries. He was demonstrating on me, doing it very lightly, but he held the position so long, because he was explaining it to the rest of the class, that I passed out.
anywho, no one's perfect, but a good sensei can still teach you how to kick some ass, not to mention honor and self-discipline.
edit: PS: MaxEx is tha bomb!

His maximum oxygen uptake due to cardio training is totally unaffected by his fall, now isn't it?

Huh? Where is this written in stone? Did you read this in a book wherein this "fact" was diseminated to a wide, non-student base? Does a true artist cover his works and hide them in the basement? Should Eric Clapton play his music soley for his cat or only to a select few guitar students?
