simple question

hello all,
this is my first post here, but I really like this site. Now here s what I was wondering, I m in AL (plenty of cows). Someone said that the cows had to be fed a particular way (grain fed I think) for them to be any good. Is this true? Or can you just pick them from any cow field? Thanks in advance

Well sounds like u want to HUNT for mushrooms not cultivate them so i would post over in the hunting fourm. But, if i were u. I would look up "Mapping the Myciliem Network"sp, Figure out when mushrooms grow in yer area, check out info on the shrooms that grow in yer area, info about their habitat. Im not a big hunter anymore now that my homegrown babies are coming in weekly :).

I think you meant cow paties, shit to inoculate ?
Well i've read that high nitrogen content grain is not good for mushrooms, so search wich grain are and decide what to feed the cows, anyway i think this is somewhat irrelevant, the good paties are dried ones and their gas content is very limited, i feed my horse green grass and wheat.
