Simple Question
    #317608 - 05/15/01 12:27 AM (23 years, 8 months ago)

Ok, im new to this board so HI.... anyways...
I have a simple question... if two jars are sterilized exactly the same way at exactly the same time and innoculated exactly the same way and at exactly the same time except jar a is innoculated with 1 cc of spore solution and jar b is innoculated with 2 cc's of spore solution, would jar (b) be less likely to be contaminated?

Keep Trippin' and Blazin'

maybe one way to attempt to beet contams. is to get the jars to inoculate fast but i think that your cleanlyness is most important if you are very sterile then it shoud not matter but the longer a jar is exposed to the "elements" the more chance of contams

remember, behind every great fortune there is an even greater crime

very true.has been my experience that the faster the colonization the less chance of contams.

If your using 1/2 pints I wouldn't worry about it, but when you use pints and quarts you want them to be attacked from every angle.......

speed colonization is awesome!!
i innoculated 24 jars,
15 jars colonized in 2 weeks, the other 9 jars had zero growth.
despite zero growth in the 9 jars,
i did not come across ANY contam!
judge for yourself....

the fastest colonization time for me was with B+ incoluated 2cc 100% in 10 days. that is the fastest I have ever got a jar to complete, so the answer to your question is yes the faster they colonize the less likely to get contams, if U inject 1 jar with 1cc it will take anywhere from 3 to 4 weeks to completion on average, if U inject 1 jar with 2cc 2 weks completed is vary reasonable, however, I do not recomend birthing just because they colonize in 10 to 14 days. If U leave it in the jar another week after 100% the myceluim will be stronger and your cake/casing will stay healthy longer...
