It is much easier to inoc them with grain spawn,
But just set them somewhere dark and warm and leave them alone for 7-10 and then check them
Next time it would be easier to take and a half or pint jar and inoc it and when the jar is done then dump it in the bags of rye.

I think he is saying it's easier to use grain spawn that is already colonized to innoculate the rye berries.??? At least that's what I get.But you are fine using the syringe.Since you don't want to open up these bags. Just lay them on their side in the dark and wait.Rye berries, rye grain ..its all spawn.

I innoculated a couple jars about 1 week ago...maybe more and i dont see any mycelium growth at all....anyone know what thats all about?
I just used spores....no mycelium strain or anything, so do the spores have to germinate or something?
WE CANT STOP HERE!!!!....THIS IS BAT COUNTRY

Your spores could be dead due to: Age, Heat or Extreme Heat. This could be why you see no growth. Wait a few more days, if nothing appears, then you can consider your syringe a piece of crap, or maybe you didn't let the jars cool down?

Wow. Enter, I was just clarifying Dimitri and Dimitri was just saying thank you. They were both nice post. Nobody was getting upset. We are all getting along just fine.As far as your spores 70.5 hrs, your are still ok. Sometimes it can take a while. Patience is needed in this hobby. That's the hard part. All the waiting. I've had spores germinate take 10 days to germinate. Patience- I have to tell myself that often.:

LOL.Good,I got a little worried about you(jk) Sometimes spores germinate fast like in 48-72hrs. Most of the time is more like day 4-6.So,you may still have a few days to wait.

???That bites, but there's still hope that they will germinate.A few questions?Did you make these bags yourself, and what temp are they being kept at?If the PR germinate, but the others don't,then I would wonder about that spore print or syringe. It sounds like the berries are healthy.I'm asking about the rye berries because one time I got a hold of some rye that sucked. Even though I bought it at a health food store and it was labelled organic nothing germinated on those. The spores germinated on everyhting else ,but not those berries. So, I think there was something in them.Anyways,I can't remember if these berries are part of a DB kit or if they are your own.Let me know. Sorry about your frustration. I think we can all relate to that.

In my experience germinating on rye takes much longer to show up than BRF but once it gets going is faster due to the fact that you can shake it. I've found that if you shake the jars too early, you can't see the colonisation clearly cos you spread it around too thinly. So if you want to see something don't move em around for a few days.
BTW - AFOAF has some rye jars on the go right now and it took 7 days for anything to show up

I guess all you can do now is wait. The only problems I had with the DB bags was bacterial back when they were using the other grain. This resulted in an obvious bad smell.I got germination, but extremely slowed mycelial growth. It doesn't sound like you have that problem. So, all you can do is wait. It is not unheard of for spores to take 10days to germinate. Not ideal, but not unheard of.Make sure you don't mess with the bags too much. It will be interesting to see what the PR bags do.Keep us updated.
