short term fresh shroom stoarge..

hiya
ok my mushroom was about 5 inches this morning and the veil wasnt broken, but this evening i looked at it jumped to about 8 inches, cant support its own weight so its all arched over. i havent picked it yet but i know i should...
What is the best/safest way to keep the mushroom fresh just for a couple of days and retain its full potency? i want my first trip to be with a freshly grown shroom. (i'll be having smaller ones as well if the one big one isnt enough).
please reply ASAP. :)

Put it in a paper bag, then into the fridge.
