?Will rice dry fresh shrooms?

:D--I read in a tech (that i cant find now) that you can dry
fresh shrooms by burying them in dry rice in a bowl, that the
rice wics moisture away from the mushies; im wondering if anyone
here has used this method? I ask because i have
no fan, or dessicant. Though maybe by time i harvest i will have
what i need.
Sooo rice anyone?

I just had a thought; put one of
those big box fans on the floor facing up, put on that a screen
with shrooms spread on it, and cover the shrooms with
a colander so they dont blooooow away and put the fan
on full blast. Yeah.

Hey while your at wal-mart buying a fan, you can buy a box of damp-rid. Its a pretty good dessicant. You can find it near the cleaning supplies.

Tired of pimping yourself on the corner to afford spores? Well throw out that red dress and go to the FSR, for spores even you can afford.

Hey Nagual. This "rice" drying tek does not work. Especialy with fresh fruits. If you do try this, expect to end up with a big moldy lump of rice and shrooms.

To me it sounds like it would work. Afterall, you can use salt to dry shrooms, and if you put a few grains of rice in a salt shaker, it keeps the salt dry.

rice is put in salt shakers to BREAK up salt. It is put in shakers sometimes to keep it from clumping due to moisture.

How do you dry shrooms with salt, just burry them in it for a day or something or what?

Don't waste your time with salt-it won't work. It probably won't rot either because the salt will ionize(NACL(solid)-->Na+(aq) + Cl- (aq)) and be absorbed by the water in the mushroom by means of diffusion. As a result, you'll have very salty shrooms-a condition that bacteria and molds can't grow in.
