Sorry, if people want cocaine information and don't want lectures, they should ask at bluelight or something.

It's important that we show that The Shroomery doesn't condone coke/crack use. I personally think it's a "bad" drug, and might just let you know if you ask anything about it.

But what does it contribute to the conversation? If someone wants to know how to turn crack into coke, to make it MORE SAFE FOR THEMSELVES, what do they get out of it when instead of helping them, they get a huge rush of useless posts telling them coke is bad? Jesus, do you think? They're looking for information, if they wanted lectures they could go to Freevibe.

The shroomery is supposed to be about information, not personal bias. Have you ever read "Ask Erowid," where when someone asks a question about heroin or cocaine, Erowid actually answers it? This isn't DARE class, and we don't need to tell someone what they're doing isn't healthy with every free post we've got.

With all due respect, ODD is like the "BlueLight" district of the Shroomery - as I understand it....  I have never actually been to "BlueLight"....  ODD is there to ask questions about "Other Drugs" - it is as simple as that....  There is a place for everything, and there is LOTS -o- stuff to learn there amongst the "junk threads".... 

But as the saying goes, one man's junk is another man's treasure....  :shrug:

I don't think sending people needing accurate information to bluelight is a good idea.

Whether lecuturing people is good or bad is debatable. On one hand it can get repetitive but on the other it might really help someone. However I think sending posters who ask about "bad" things somewhere else just because their questions are controversial is definatly not a good thing.

I understand what you guys are saying. I don't want to knock another man's high. However, I think it's important to remind people of the dangers of this drug. It's not something that you can play around with as easily as other drugs.

This is pretty redundant of "the right drugs" thread in ODD *but*... Whether you agree with it or not, the shroomery *definately* has an ethnobotanical and spiritual experience bent... At least that's what I've seen.

Neither should you compare the shroomery or its community to Erowid. Erowid is an organization that is (I do believe) there in order to give objective, unbiased information on "drugs". The shroomery community, being a community, is very subjective and biased. So really, it's laughable, to me, that you are comparing ODD to Erowid. They are *worlds* apart and serve *very* different functions.

You know what? Who cares if it doesn't help the topic poster. Other people reading the threads may have been thinking about getting into, say, heroin, but after reading the thread they might decide they have too much addiction potential... And that's a good thing.

Problem is, rarely does someone post to say, "thanks for letting me know about your experiences with this addictive substance and how it has affected your life and lives around you; now I realize while the high could be great, the lows will as well", and all too often people will post "fuck you I don't care I just want to know what I asked you're an asshole for putting your shit on me and not answering my question - that makes you off topic!". Nevermind that the "asshole" in question only posted out of concern for the questioner...

Again. The Shroomery is *definately* slanted to ethnobotanicals and spiritual experiences. ODD is just a user-contributed forum, so ODD will always contain subjective remarks. Subjectively, a good many of us don't like nor advocate use of the "hard drugs" and we're going to post about it.
