substrate formula

does anybody know the formula for mixing up a rice/flax/millet substrate? also what is flax and where can expect to find it or is there a suitble substitue if I am unable to obtain it? also should the millet be pre-soaked prior to mixing?I am also very concerned with getting the right miosture content, any replies would be greatly appreaciated

Flax is a little high in fat, which can lead to a substrate consistency being a gooey clump. You can probably just leave the flax out and compensate w/ by adding more millet.

The millet can be pre-soaked or not. If you do pre-soak, less (if any) water is needed when adding the rice flour in.

I've found that an easy way to ensure proper substrate moisture is to pre-soak straight grain for 48 hours, rinse/strain and PC. This way your sub moisture content is whatever the grain was actually able to soak up.
