2 Newbie Questions

I did do a search and read around, but I couldn't get clear answers for these questions. Keep in mind this is for the B + strain. 1.Should I wait for the cakes to pin while in the jar before birthing or just birth them when 100% colonized. 2.When fruiting does it matter if I live the cooler lid up with light on all the time. I know it only needs very minimal light, but are there any problems related with too much light? 3. Does it matter if colonizing jars get light or not. Does anything change?

1. Wait till the jar is 100% colonized, and add one week, then birth... If you see pinning, you obviously want to birth 2. I actually don't know about leaving light on 24/7, but makes sense to mimic the natural life cycle of the mushroom, so do 12 on, 12 off or something similar... Maybe someone else can add to this. 3. I hear for Hippie's invitro tek its important to have them exposed to light throughout... Either way I think the dark/light doesn't matter too much. Most people keep it in the dark, but I know keeping them in light 100% of the time works too.. Who knows the light could trigger invitro pinning much faster, I just haven't done any research to be sure.

i heard in regards to question 3, that is must be complete dark so the myc... doesn't start to pin, as it is minimal amounts of light per day( i think 2 hours) thats start the mushroom growing cycle off, whcih you don't want till 100% colonized. just thought about question 2, and don't think leaving lights of 24/7 would be best thing to do, 1) extra cost of electiricy, 2) too much heat in terraium 3) don't get different temps. i read mushrooms need temp of about 75 to pin, but grow fastest at temps of 85f ish, so by having a light on for 12/12 as ugessted above, maybe warm terraium up suffeiciently to grow fastest then for dark period cool enough to start pinning at most effiecient temps.

Thanx. Ya, I wasn't planning on leaving the light on that long. I was just curious. Since there needs to be some light and since they are growing right where i am constantly around, I have the normal room lighting on anyways.

As for #3, one of my elves colonizes jars under lght 24/7. He says they are 100% done in about 3 weeks and only about 3% pin invitro.
