P. weilii habitat
    #3600027 - 01/08/05 06:39 PM (19 years, 1 month ago)

I live near Atlanta, GA and I am very excited about searching for this "new" shroom in my area. I have found several good pics on the net, but nothing regarding habitat. Can you guide me in the right diretion? Does weilii prefer lawns, pastures, open fields, hardwood forest, pine forest, suburban woodlots, sandy soil, or what? Is manure a requirement as with other types? Maybe loamy, forest-floor compost? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Or if an experienced shroomer lives nearby, perhaps a field "trip"?

Do a search of this forum. I know that I, LizardKing, and others have outlined the habitat quite extensivly before.

Does weilii prefer lawns

yes

pastures, open fields, hardwood forest

probably not.. Maybe in hardwood forests

pine forest

from what I hear pine forests are good places to search for 'wild weilii' .. the reports are so few though

suburban woodlots, sandy soil, or what

more like ANY place within the growth parameters of the species. Which might include characteristics such as newly turned soil 2-15 years old

no it is not required.. Forest floor compost is what they grow on in the wild.. Most weilii you will find will be of a different variety.
