Dextrose IV setup.
    #3524490 - 12/20/04 02:39 PM (19 years, 3 months ago)

I am currently trying to experiment with methods that would in essence provide a continuous nutrient and moisture repleneshment to PF cakes. I have 1/2 pint brown rice flower cakes and sterile IV supplies that one could find at any medical supplies store. I have 50 mL IV bags of 10% dextrose solution in sterile water. I have essentially an IV drip going directly into the center of the PF cake and the infusion is provided by gravity. In theory, the 10 % dextrose solution should provide the cake with lost moisture and some nutrients. What do you guys think? You think it will increase yeild and/or prolong the life of the cake? Is dextrose a viable cubenis nutrient, i mean to say can the mycelium utilize this nutrient to fruit?

If you want BULK, grow on BULK substrate.

Deal you have going sounds like it will become a contam farm.

But, who knows.

This may become the new rage...

if it works out for you & you post pic's.

i remember reading supplementation methods on shroomery before i cant seem to find any links in the faq or in searching, but i remember someone using a regular plant pot with nutrient mix in it and had that shoved into the substrate. this worked well according to the experimenter, but dunking was considered more beneficial.

i personally think that supplementing nutrients intervaneously(sp) isnt worth the time that could be spent on making multiple cakes instead.... the yeild increase you would get from supplementing nutrients for second, third and fourth flushes could easily be replicated by just colonizing many cakes for their first flush.

"A human being is part of a whole, called by us the Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest--a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."

Was micro nutes derived primarily from custom compost tea
Served 2 purposes..1 rehydrate substrate & add more nutes at same time

He used compost tea to rehydrate and supplement the substrate with nutrition.

In the mmgg it noted eastern mycologists leaving a cyclinder section of pure verm in the middle of the cake where they could rehydrate and supplement the cake with more nutes. after each flush.

Other than curiousity, I agree with agar. If you want bulk, grow on bulk.

Sorry, I should have been more specific.....Could you please explain the tea compost and it's major effects on the "crops"?

Not tea compost...compost tea....water from compost basically I think. I cant describe any further but if you look through Agar's posts he's posted on it before.

Growing with bags, start to finish (including my new grain and substrate prep)
Anyone looking to start bulk tubs/mono tubs/shotgun hybrids? Good tubs to use..
How I do grain (old still good tips)
Turn your closet into a fruiting chamber
Casing layer colonization and overlay
