ADSL USB Modem Problems

A / P / C X86 / Mandrakelinux 10.1 (Official) / Installation

I have a Sitecom ADSL USB Modem DC-204 V3 and I can find no drivers for it and Mandrake will only pick it up in the hardware configuration as an unknown. This means no internet and no updates and is very frustrating. It work perfectly on Windows 2000. Any help would be appreciated.

Seriously. DSL Modem + Linux + USB = asking for problems. Is there no ethernet port you could run a cable? You might need to buy a $10 NIC, but those are very well supported.

ethernet cards are cheap, like $5 or less if you find a computer store with used parts.

USB is slower and buggier for internet. Not recommended at all.

like everyone else said, try to go with ethernet. if you can't find a driver then just keep on looking because it could be possible that a coder was in the same situation as you...but fixed it.
