I have IP addresses of people that send me viruses .... What to do with them.

I just installed Sygate Personal Firewall Pro and I have like 3 or 4 IP addresses of people that keep trying to send me viruses and shit. Is there anything I can do to them ?

You just installed what?

They're trying to send viruses how? Through e-mail? If it is through e-mail, the IP addresses you have are probably useless. If it's like the sasser virus or something, and your firewall is picking it up, it just means that those IPs are of people who are infected with the virus.

OOps I just installed Sygate Personal Firewall Pro.

The ip's are comming from Cairo, Egypt is all I know. It just says 12/15/2004 14:05:03 Application Hijacking has been detected Also someones name popped up on my computer screen and it said Kevin W. has Hacked your system

are you looking to counter-hack them or what?

don't do it :smile: don't sink to their level (if it's not just some poor people with virii on their computers that they don't even know they have). just be thankfull you've got a good fire-wall, get any M$ updates you can, or - if you want to be really safe - switch to Linux!

Yeah, just get your windows updates. It's probably not even some guy trying to hack you, more likely a virus on someone else's computer trying to infect yours.

Unless your firewall gives you any other details, it's pretty much impossible to say what exactly that means.

IPs can be spoofed and viruses can come from zombie bots

That could be anything from a trojan, to you leaving the Windows Messenger Service turned on (visit link for information on turning it off).

Really, you must understand how...  vagueness makes the baby penguins cry!!!  (to quote my favorite bot's factoids)

If you really want to figure it all out, be more clear or provide some screenshots of just what you're talking about :smile:

My buddy developed a VNC installer so that you can install VNC on someone's machine without them knowing of it. Regardless to say he refuses to distribute this little installer of his to his friends due to malicious intentions, which is understandable. I've seen him install it on two seperate machines now to see if it works, and it sure does.

but such a thing would require the person running some sort of 'client' file on their computer, that would allow the VNC installer to find it, as far as i know... such a file could easily be hid in an .exe file, though, so it wouldn't be too hard to get somebody to run it.
