Shroomery Translation Team

I came up with this idea when I was thinking about how few international members the Shroomery has. Perhaps this is because some people who would post don't feel comfortable with English, and so end up just lurking. So, I got to thinking - why don't we create a "Shroomery Translation Team" - this would be a group of members who volunteer to cover translation for different languages. We could advertise this somehow, so new visitors to the forums would know that if they don't feel comfortable posting in english, they can PM their message, in their own language, to whomever is the official translator for this language, and then get their message translated to English, so the rest of the community can respond (I guess the translators would also have to translate any responses). I'm not really sure of how many international posters we have here who end up not posting or not joining in discussions because of language-difficulties - but why not offer such a service, anyhow? If there aren't very many - well, then it's no sweat off the translators backs. If there are many - well, then it's a service that we need to provide! Anyway, what do people think about this idea? I'd be happy to be the resident translator for Norwegian and Danish (Swedish as well, if there is nobody else - but I really suck at reading Swedish, so I think we should force RunDMT to do it ). So? Good idea, or do people think it isn't necessary?

He means adding a translator option for worldwide use of this site specifically.
When a user signs up to be a community member they would be given the option of which language they want to read the site in.

well that too. but what i was thinking about would be having a group of members who would do translation of peoples posts if they needed it. for example, say some non-english speaking member wants to post a question in General Questions but doesn't feel comfortable posting in english. they can find a link somewhere on the site that would give them a list of translators that they could PM any message to and get a translated copy back. translaters like AltaVista's Babel-fish really suck when any slang or colloquial phrases are used - and based upon the content of this site, i think there is a lot of slang and colloquial phrases used. really this wouldn't involve a whole lot of work (unless it turns out that there are a ton of people who want to post but don't feel comfortable with english) - it would just require keeping an updated list of shroomerites who would be willing to do translations, and a link somewhere with this list.
but as well, translating more of the site's content to other languages is a good plan as well. (and on that note, the PF Tek for Simple Minds Danish version is coming, Anno... i did about half of it today, i'll try to finish the rest tomorrow )

I guess i'd volunteer to help some french fellows out in their translation problem, but they'd have no way of knowing that i'd be there to help them out.
