You statements about fires spreading to a neighbor's house are probably one of the best arguments for property tax funding of fire departments there is. I think if your going to tax somebody, there should be tangible benefits directly related to the taxes incurred.

I've no doubt he explains how his vision of such things might work -- Rothbard does as well. I have merely found Rothbard's (and others whose names escape me at the moment) arguments to be less than convincing. Substantially less, in fact. That is not to say I would feel the same way after reading Friedman's arguments. It is entirely possible he would do a better job of it. Until I read his book -- and I do intend to get my hands on a copy somehow -- I remain highly skeptical of the benefits of a society with no objective legal, judicial, and enforcement apparatus. That's not even to address the question of legitimate national self-defense in an age where invading armies have ships, tanks, and aircraft.

Perhaps Friedman will change my mind about that. I hope so, as I dislike government as much as anyone and wish to see its influence reduced to the absolute minimum.

Too bad almost everything he says is ignored by those in power.

I guess that's because every time a country follows his economic advice it sees it's economy crash and burn very shortly afterwards.

Me and the citizens of Hong Kong beg to differ.

I can never seem to keep anyone on ignore for an extended period of time. Usually the more idiotic or illogical someone's posts are, the more I become curious as to what they'll say next.

His understanding of "CRACK" is typical.

Crack is just smokable coke, that is all. Nothing menacing. This absurd notion running through America that powder coke is ok to do, but Crack is just plain evil. Cocaine is cocaine. Honestly I think snorting the stuff is a waste of time. All forms are habit forming, just like anything in life that a particular consumer might LIKE. The body can and will develope physiological desire for any form of cocaine.

Cocaine can be appreciated best by shooting it, then by smoking it, and least by snorting it. CRACK RULES if you like Cocaine. Most people have real problems with injecting anything. Lots of people smoke cigarettes or pot, so smoking is pretty friendly.

Impurity is impurity. So regardless of the form your cocaine is used in, by the time it gets to middle America it isn't VERY PURE in any form.

People who are "ADDICTS" are just Losers. Losers will be losers, no matter what they throw their life away with. They should only become criminals when they start dragging everyone around them down too.

Legalize drugs, it is the only responsible thing to do. So on that point Friedman is RIGHT ON.
