Just inoculated brf. PF style w/ dry verm layer.
Now, as to the loose lids, the object is to let no possibly contaminated air to the verm?
Could someone elaborate please?

the object of the verm is to not let any possoble contams in the air into the jar. think of your verm as another layer of protection. that is why you wiped the jaron the inside before you added the verm. you did wipe the jar didnt you? but your incubation area should generally be free of contams. the loose lid is to allow for air exchange, but the hole in the lid seen to do just fine.

That or you could just use tyvek or polyfil, they work great and give better air excahnge, too much is bad(lets out to much moisture) , but if you do a search on it then you should be alright and if you get lost after looking or jus plain out cant find it then drop me a pm and ill help you out as best i can, gl, later

Yeah, I wiped 'em.
I'm thinkin' about when I need to check the temp. and RH.
This means the inc. must only be opened in a sterile environment?
Also, what should the rh be in the inc.? (TiT)

:tongue2:  A green guy, cuz i'm so green  :tongue2:

no need for humidity in incubator all the magic is happening in the jar and RH wont effect it.

Themometer- Fish tank kind that stick to the wall works
RH-Fogger? I've read of a million things to use and i dont know what to suggest...airbubbles on the bottom, then lavarocks(?) and then water...i'm not sure to be honest, i use a sad little pmp so i jus use perlite, i never measure the humidity, they never really tell you Exactly how humid, i just put my finger in there and ask myself " is that humid"...and when i feel like the water stick like my face(like in fl), i say, "yup"...but w/e works for you...work...gl..later

O i thought you meant for a fruiting chamber, rotfl, yea the incubator is just fine, id keep it warm tho, say 80F, u have to drop the temp 10F to initate pinning quickly and you need your chamber at 72F when your fruiting so keep that in mind...i didnt kno this and waited a Month for one flush, gl

once you get it into the fruiting chamber you have to have humidity to grow. you can always buy a spray bottle as a last resort.

Thanx for all the good info. ya'll.

Ignostic,

1) For the kick in the right direction. I thought I happened up on an unexpected "wrinkle". Upon further inspection, I think i'm cool. I'm following pf tek for a first try, and decided to go with the tight lid tek. I feel like my substrate moisture content could be right on the money, I want to hold it in. Dem little guys can *will be hopefully* breathe, right?

2)I've kicked around some ideas for FC, but haven't launched any experiments yet. The 3 ltr. bottle tek looks interesting.
But I'll probably use an opaque rubbermaid in the form of terr.
for spraying w/ perlite on the floor. Am I right to think that I don't need to be as sterile retentive then because the colony has grabbed hold?

the last part of you post is somewhat right. it is hard to contam a fully colonized cake, but you can never be to sterile. i havent ran into any problems with loosing moister in the jar. bu tlook into tyvek. then no worries
