purple gilled, white mushrooms, need id

I found these in a field growing out of horse shit. theyre white, low to the ground, some of them have curved stems, I live in central NC, any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

actually they have a small ring around the stem indicating where a veil was, its just very small

another note, i picked some more today that appeared to be younger, the gills were a bright, almost electric purple.

Do not pick any white large mushrooms or cany mushrooms with white gills. Stick to chocolate brown and /or black gills. That should be a start for you.

Avoid white shrooms,

Of courese Copelandias are small LBM's which have an off colored whitish cap but the gills a re jet black and they bruise extremely blue when handled wihtin a fe w mionutes.

grr, hunting shrooms is harder than just going out in a field and walking around for a few minutes, i guess if it was that easy everyone would be tripping all the time, hmm... i'm getting sorta discouraged maybe I'll just try to start cultivating:(

Check horse pastures around the stable or feed area where hay is spread out and the horse gather where they eat a ton and shit a ton, you will most likely be able to stumble across a few Panaeolus subbalteatus. You can also find these in cow pastures, but they are more common in horse fields. Also search the creek banks and rotting harwoods for Psilocybe caerulipes.

If your thinking you might find Ps. cubensis out in those cow pastures, don't waste your time, they don't grow that far north typically, if at all. Go for the subbs, they're your best bet.

Dont get deterred! I was thinking the same way as you, cause I had spent so many mornings waking up early to check the pasture, until I finally found some hiding in some grass. They can be elusive, but be patient and persistent, and I'm sure it'll pay off.

Hey, L.K. What are my chances of finding some Psilocybe Caerulipes? Is it more or less of a chance than say, cubensis, or Pan subbs?
