taking arabic class

I'm going to take arabic at a college next semester and I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with this language. Is it hard to learn?

It seems like a rather difficult language to learn. This is only based on my hearing people speak it and it being so different from English. Why the interest in Arabic... goin down to the middle east some time soon?

Well I speak fluently in Russian and English. I also took 4 years of Spanish in high school. Now I need to take one college class for my senior year in order to graduate. I'm also going into industrial psychology or international business. Since there's a lot of money flowing around there, I want to learn arabic. Plus I might join the military after college to pay off my college loans.

A regular polyglot you are. Ive tried to learn several languages in my time, but I think I need to live somewhere to really get one. Class work and audio tapes only go so far. My friend recently told me about some language program that the CIA uses to teach its agents a language. Its publicly available and supposedly works wonders. I think I'm gonna give that a try. Good luck on the Arabic and the money filled business ventures though.

i've learned a bit of conversational arabic from arabic-speaking friends - i think the most difficult part is learning to read it, as it is a totally different script - but if you learned russian, then you are already versed in learning new scripts, so good luck!

(i wouldn't call Arafat a "fag" to your arabic teacher, however... just some friendly advice)

I didn't learn russia, i was born in russia and spent 9 years there and 9 years in the US. I wouldn't say shit to my teacher about arafat, hah.

You're weird. You always rant about Muslims in the PA&L but you're studying the Qur'an and now Arabic.
