TABLAS..anone familair with these?...Im gettin some and need advice PLZ (pics)

I went to a big music-instrument store today to check out some world-drum cirlce drums and was interested in this tabla set they had. They sounded really good but they were goin for like $350, so I came home to check out how much cheaper they go for on the net. www.musiciansfriend.com has this brand name "Casa" which go for 150 with free shipping....
Ebay also has them for under $150 but some for over 250 as well....Since I cant hear an actual sample of the speciif tablas, should I just assume the more expensive, the better? I just wanted to know if anybody owns a pair of these and can point me in the right direction of some good ones. I dont mind paying a few extra bucks but I wish I knew which type were the best for the price.

If you are serious about it, you need to buy the most expensive ones you can afford and you will be happy you did. They are hand made so quality is everything.

Do you play it with that metal hammer? :blush:

Seems like it would be easy to break them doing that...

Or is the hammer just a tool needed to tune it or something? heh..

Ya but how do I know if the ones that are most expenseive are the same ones other people are selling for half the price...and some people just want to rip you off....None of the tablas are listed by brand besides the "Casa" ones. I hve seen the same exact thing on ebay listed for 50 bucks that someone else was liting for 200!!

my good friend Adamist used to own some tablas that he purchased from MusiciansFriend.

The metal hammer is for tuning, though we never quite figured out how.
Another friend of mind also bought some tablas, which came with an instruction booklet. In it, it did explain how to tune with the hammer... but the way it was explained was so dry and technical. I don't think he really ever figured it out, either.
