i know someone who is using the pf tek and they seem to be getting lots of pins but around 75% seem to be ending up in aborts. does anyone know how this can be corrected to get a larger percentage to actually fruit..... btw the strain is EQ

Eh, more info please? You hardly gave anything. Pics, info of the environment, etc would be useful. But as far as aborts... they happen. The % could probably be lower if we helped though... just need actual info.

ok here is what i guess is some relevant info.....70 degrees F, direct light from flourescent bulb around 12 hours a day, fanned out 7-10 times a day, IR tek used on some cakes but abort % the same on all, and a pic of the setup(using many techniques).....

70? Holy shit man... upper 70s. Fan less. I fan 3-4 times a day max... get mad good results. I just use casings from rye, fan 1-3 times a day usually, 95%+ rh, and 12+ hours a day light at around 79 far max temp. Fruits 14+ grams usually a cake. Later msn

I would not recommend heating a chamber that is 70. Mushrooms will grow just fine at 70 and to heat it up 3-7 degrees would be difficult to do correctly. Try and warm up the room that its in by a few degrees by keeping the ac lower or heat higher in the room by 3-7 degrees..otherwise dont worry about it unless your getting huge temp fluctuations which can cause aborts. Low temp or alot of fresh air (which IMO and experience is always good, the fresh air that is) isn't going to cause aborts. What I've found to cause aborts:

To many pins to be supported by the substrate, certain strains, lack of fresh air, H202, misting to the point of saturation, and the biggest is lack of moisture, be it misting or not dunking and/or rolling. I mentioned big temp fluctuations before. I think thats all..off the top of my head anyway.

Anyone looking to start bulk tubs/mono tubs/shotgun hybrids? Good tubs to use..
