Does composted manure in bags work
    #3345997 - 11/11/04 11:44 AM (12 years, 26 days ago)

Does the composted manure (usually with humus) in bags work as a good media or is everyone actually finding fresh manure somehow, and where?

From readings compost works better than fresh. And smell's a lot more nose-friendly, too. I think 1 yr old compost was recommended.

But I steer clear of poo... so, sorry, can't speak from experiences.

composted steer manure from your local nursery is top notch. it smells not too terribly in the bag but then more like dirt when it is pasturizing. for some reason it smelled terrible AFTER pasturizing.

You usually end up missing with bagged products. they due work sometimes. if your curious dedicate only a few cakes to trying it that way if it fails you havent' wasted all that time for nothing.
Mixing vermivulite and peatmoss in usually helps bagged manure's but they are hit or miss so definalty experiment a little before commiting everything to it.
