store-bought composted manure

will this stuff work?
from what i've read on here composted cow pies work well, but i also read somewhere that store bought manure gives consistently bad results. i bought it from a nursery, and all it says on the bag is "composted manure," so i can't really think of a reason why it wouldn't work, but i really have no idea. Anyone have success with this?
