If mass attracts mass.

Is anything known or even suspected to repel gravity?

gravity is a label of an observed reaction to describe what happens to certain objects when something is spinning or in rotation with another object.

gravity is not a force, its acceleration.

force has totaly different units than gravity (not to be confused with gravitational force which is mass combined with gravity).

when we talk about gravity depends on who we are talking about or "frame of reference."

if the reference is with a human on a planet, gravity is the centripetal acceleration that the human feels because the planet is rotating. when the planet rotates the human experiences a gravitational force (the acceleration of gravity times the person's mass) which we call our weight (which is not the same thing as mass)

again it depends on the frame of reference.

Gravity is caused by mass warping space. Gravity has little to do with centripetal acceleration which can mimic gravity to some degree, but it is not gravity.

We have just recently begun to entertain the idea of negative gravity, which is only produced by "negative energy" (kind of the same idea as anti-matter). Our recent observations show that the expansion of the universe is actually speeding up instead of slowing down. Something must be "pushing" this increase in speed.

Because negative energy would REPEL away from all other negative energy, this form of energy has spread out to cover most of the universe. We expect that negative energy makes up at least 70% of the total energy content of the universe. Regular matter/energy attracts, so we end up with "islands" of matter/energy (galaxies, stars, planets, ect) that are surrounded by a low-density field of negative energy (which exists even in the depths of intergalactic space).

The theory is that out universe is at a crossroads right now - the point where negative gravity starts to overcome the attractive effect of "normal" gravity. The strength of normal gravity falls off with the square of the distsance, but negative gravity INCREASES in strength as distance increases. So as the universe expands and creates more distance between the "islands" of regular matter, the negative-gravity becomes a stronger and stronger force OVER ALL, which is causing the expansion to speed up.

You are very uninformed. Yes, the cause of gravity IS known. Go read some basic physics.

If you spent 6 years reading physics then this idea should be known to you. So quit perpetuating ignorance. I actually checked out my response with a friend of mine who is a physicist. He said that my explanation, that while basic, was correct. Einstein?s theory of general relativity, says that gravity is the warping of space-time as massive bodies like stars, planets or black holes move through space. While this is a "theory" many aspects of it have been upheld in experiments such as the recent detection of "frame dragging" by Earth's spinning mass.

all science is based on observations.

from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravity;
"Newton's law of universal gravitation states the following:
Every object in the Universe attracts every other object with a force directed along the line of centers for the two objects that is proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the separation between the two objects."

we can observe this happening. we can measure it happening. we cannot say how or why it happens.
why does every object attract every other object?

from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Force;
"It is very important to mention that it is impossible to define force. All attempts in history failed because of definitions in circles. This is a reason why modern physics theories don't operate with the forces as the source or symptom of interaction. General relativity uses a conception of curved spacetime and Quantum field theory talks about exchanging of intermediate particles like photons, W and Z bosons or gluons. Both theories don't need force. However, because it is easy to imagine forces, one can compute them from these theories. But we must not forget, that correct definition of this concept does not exist."

why does negative attract positive? how?

""why does every object attract every other object?"" one possibilities is maybe because it was the same object in the first place and the static memory want 'it' (the object it all was(or is)) to go back as it was rather than expand or brake free?

""why does negative attract positive? how?""

It does not, positive attract positive, if you want it to move though, you must give it a negative place to be positive back to the positive.
As the positive and negative current in a battery get more and more mixed, you get less effect as less negative is getting back to the negative, and less positive is getting back to the positive source, as the negative and positive eventually become the same?
Just something I wrote now, maybe I should think this over though

force is an interaction, it's a concept andit doesn't exist (except in our minds). In physics, the first thing our class learned was that terms such as energy and force are describing an interaction, or a change involving a mass.

So far relativity has held up to every test we have been able to subject it to. If a "theory" correctly predicts the behavior of physical objects then it is a good model. It is true that no laws have been properly established, even Newton's "law" breaks down, but this is due to the fact that no definite answer exists as of yet. In the meantime a reliable model is as close as can be got and relativity is a good one.

kaiowas; if force is an interaction, what is the cause of this interaction.

Huehuecoyotl; i am not asking for a prediction, i am asking for an explanation.

its small because we are small in mass and the earth is so huge. the attraction we have is so small that friction alone overrrides it.

Can you expansiate on what you meant? It sounds intriguing

Very simple thought: Nobody exactly nows, what is there between the two objects, and what is that invisible force like ?
There is some energy-potential as they are somehow direktly connected.
So most forces we know, with funktions like this are known in the electromagnetic spectrum.
At the first sight, gravity isn't, but couldn't it not be any other quality of electromagnetism ?
Nikolai Tesla, I think it was him, recogniced changes in gravitation while experimenting with very high frequencies and accordingly high voltages of electricity.
So it's just a thought. If we recognice the way, the force from one object to the other object gets transmitted, we will recognice to shield it, too.
So perhaps there will somewhen be invented a material, which shields this 'transmission of force' (nowerdays often known as 'rays').
If it's thin as a foil, you could stick it under a carpet, for example
