I have heard some things about mescaline or peyote effecting blood sugar levels, being a diabetic this concerns me a little, so I was wondering if anyone has any first hand experience with this, and if it effects you sugar levels how extreme the effects are.

yeah, i'd suggest eating something like 1/5th the dosage and then testing your blood sugar levels to see what the increase is. I'd be curious to hear the results myself.

yea be careful im not even diabetic and i have had "sugar spells" on a few substances. when your tripping its not really fun for everthign to turn into a ocean of grean then white and then find yourself on your ass really light headed. (espesially at a festival) haah

yeah i am a type one, i have an insulin pump so insulin is at hand always. thank all you for your suggestions, and ill try to stay safe, you all do the same!

One time I froze a chunk of my hand while I was tripping on LSD. It ended up blistering up into a nasty burn so I had to pay a visit to the first aid ambulance that was on hand (I was at an event). The dudes in the ambulance were super chilled out so I didn't have to worry about tripping around them.

Anyway as part of their standard evaluation of my situation they took a blood sugar test with the pin prick of blood. Apparently normal range is between 4 and 8, and I was at 9.3. The dude was like 'what other substances other than nitrous oxide (they already knew about that, thats what I burnt myself with) have you ingested?' so I told them about the acid (again, it was no big deal, totally off-the record the dudes were medics who were buddies of the rave organiser). When I told them about that they were like 'oh, well that makes sense now' and apparently LSD does raise blood sugar.

So yeah keep check on it if you're trippin or on any other kind of substance you've never had before, just to stay safe :smile:

Thats interesting, i have taken cid a few times and have never noticed a drastic change in sugar levels, o well, better safe than sorry, next time i dose ill do a little experiment and test my sugar levels before during and after the trip, and of course post my results..
