mutations in pmp
    #3285354 - 10/27/04 04:15 PM (19 years, 5 months ago)

alright i made a pmp and did it all to specs except that i used epoxy to hold the air stones to the bottom (dont ask me why) but now there is a moderate odor of epoxy in the pmp at all times i have noticed that 1 cake only has pinned since then and has mutated. now, are these things related and can the mutations be dried out and still work. and what should i do to fix this i have about 2 dozen more cakes to birth but i dont want to if they are going to be stunted or something , any suggestions?

You can go buy a spray can of epoxy catalyst.  It'll make that thing solid within 10 minutes.  It's always a good idea to use catalyst if you are using resin or epoxy.

You'll need to dry it out afterwards, though.  About 30 min with fan pointing at it.

Good Luck.

Do you have a brand name or link to epoxy catalyst?

Just search for it on googles or yahoo. Or just go to home depot, lowes or such and ask for it. They'll know what you are talking about. It's used very widely for marine resin and crazy glue.

Epoxy itself is toxic.  But catalyst dries rather quick and completely.  I used it to glue my mug back together.  Used the mug same day and look at me now!  Haha!

dont eat them. if the epoxy is making them mutate, its obviously being combined with the pins, forming mutations, but sometimes mutations are natural. give them to someone you dont like and if they live i guess theyre ok...

Only way you'd get poisoned is if the mushroom pulled some chemicals through the network and put it on the mushies... I tend to think it's safe, and most you'll get even if some chemicals went in there is upset stomach... It's not like heavy metal that stays in your body... But still... your call.
