casing - verm.

if you're doing a vermiculite only casing does it need to be sterilised?

No But using verm only will greatlly reduce you final outcome

i would suggest sterilizing or pasteurizing, even if you are using verm. you can nuke it for about 5 minutes as well. i've had cobweb problems using just verm w/o any sort of contam control. i've had much better results with sterilizing.
