Video Card Crashing
    #3247600 -

I've been having this same problem for quite a while now, whenever I turn on my computer after it's been off for like, more then an hour, the screen will go blank after it finishes loading XP, the keyboard does nothing as well, I have to restart my computer 3 or 4 times and then it will work fine, mostly (it also crashes when I try to play games, but I'm not much of a gamer). My graphics card is a nVidia GeForce 4 Ti 4200. I've tried using several versions of the drivers but with all I have the same problem. I would try to reinstall XP but my cd-rw drive recently went bad (could this be related) and I'm waiting for my new one to be delivered now. Does this sound like my video card is going bad, or just a software problem, any ideas?

i dont think it's a video card problem but if it is try the omega Nvidia drivers, they're unofficial modified Nvidia drivers that work really well. here's the link: http://www.omegadrivers.net/

sounds more like bios problems. flash your bios to the newest release, as well as your chipset. i was having problems until i upgraded my chipset, something to do with the mboard to agp interface.

I updated my bios, tried the omega drivers and tried both the nvidia drivers and gainward (the manufacturers drivers, nothing worked, then I even reinstalled XP, still having problems. Sometimes now when the computers been on a while the screen will get all jittery looking, changing my refresh rate will fix this but the problem still comes back eventually no matter what refresh rate I use. I'm thinking the problem must be the card?
