Hiding aggressive growth on your casing, so you get an even growth coming through the casing surface. Use same casing material and sprinkle over the aggressive white growth. Then, spray down til moist.

patching is putting some extra casing layer stuff on the first mycelium that grows through. They do that so the rest of the mycelium grows up to the top of the casing layer all at the same time, for a nice even flush.

I don't know if you're supposed to wait to patch until the myc. is rhizomorphic or what, because I'm afraid I'll over patch and have a big bare spot. I figure that if the myc. is grown up to the top in this spot, it's probably pretty close to the top all over. But I'm no expert.

Some further explanation of proper patching technique would be appreciated.
