most likely a hypnagogic hallucination. These hallucinations can be audi or visual, or both, and extremely vivid and intense. They occur at the border of waking and sleeping conciousness, when yoo start to fall asleep. Ive had vivid images and sensations of myself holding a block of cheese, or loud laughter, rising or sinking, a bright green spike moving towards me, etc etc

you can use these to go into a lucid dream
