Is possible to put, say, 6 quart jars in your terrrerium, instead of 12- 1/2 pint jars? I know it would take up space, but it would be verticle space.

Quart jars are fine to use, my friend uses them alot when growing bulk, for the initial mycelia growth and cake development. It gives more spawn to case with.:)

Really? So, you would just follow the regular PF tek method except with quart jars? Why wouldn't more people do this?

Could you explain the whole "generation of spawn" thing?

Wouldnt it be possible to cut a pint grown cake in half after it has been colonized, and then both cakes would fruit?

Sounds lke that tek with the solo cups, what is it, sea of shrooms? I'm almost sure that's it...anyway in that tek you cut 1/2 pints in hal and case each half individually. Supposedly it does great things for yields, I havent tried it so I can't say. YMMV

Oh ok, I think I just phrased my question wrong. I meant can't you use them for casings NOT cakes.
What's the best quart tek?
THANKS

There are no rules here. The best quart tek so far is birdseed. People don't do rice verm quarts because they take longer leaving room for contams to take over. If you want volume you need to spawn. Perfecting a simple 1/2 pint can yield alot........

I am thinking of trying the sea of shrooms tek. I have about 20 1/2 pint jars that I innoculated 2 1/2 days ago that I am considering the sea of shrooms tek for. That would do a hell of a lot of solo cups though. Has anyone here done it with sucess. I wouldnt want to try something with a very bad history of failing.

That is hell-o-lot of quarts my firey friend. Sea of shrooms is supposed to be a good tek, but I wouldn't put all of them in one container, seperate them in groups of 3. Why you would need that many quarts is beyond me but it is a good tek the only problem is you can expect to wait well over a month for a reliable quart to colonize. If you think you really need that many shrooms you should spawn some straw/hay/ dung or coco fiber ect. You can easily turn a pint into a pound over several flushes of spawn if you keep feeding it. I don't think there is room for greed in the hobby , but good luck........
