I recently found some red aminita muscaria mushrooms in the northern washington. I have heard that there is special preparations that must be done in order to enjoy these mushrooms (or can I just eat them?)
Firstly, you obviously want to make SURE that you have a Muscaria. Another shroomery member actually just served me up some stir-fried Muscaria a la butter and a pinch of dill weed...not too bad...and not too great. It really tasted OK actually, but the aftertaste is a bit unpleasant. Just keep in mind it has to be heated in some way or another to dissipate the mushroom's bad acids.
