NOOO! MY DB contaminated!!

Fuck.

$100 and 2 months time and effort down the fucking tubes. Yeah, I'm upset. About 3 weeks ago, I mixed 1 bag of colonized rye (which took about a month) and 3 half-pint jars of PF substrate with the DB compost. About 10 days later it was 95% colonized. I exposed it to light and waited for pins. Pins which never came. Just yesterday I saw a small patch of green fuzz on top. Upon further inspection, I could the the mold all through the side of the container.

I followed pretty good sterile technique when mixing the substrate with the compost. Oh well. I'm not blaming anyone here. Shit happens sometimes .. too bad it happened to me.

Now if you'd pardon me, I got some jars to make.

sorry to hear that man. just a few days ago i realized that the 5 casings i had going (2 cakes per casing) were done for. 7 weeks of effort gone. learn from it....if you learn nothing else, learn that sometimes shit just doesn't work out.

I know how you feel, my DB got contaminated with the green mold but i got a very nice flush from it first , hope you have better luck next time>

Unfortunatly that shit does happen once in a while. I certainly would not blame it on the compost, its usually us humans that introduce the contamination. it was 90% colonized for you at 3 weeks. If the compost was contaminated to begin with, it would have contaminated immediatly or already been green when you opened the bag.
Every substrate contaminates, and its usually us who introduces it.
Why dont you ask Ryche for a discount on another kit? They are easy going.
