i wait a month and blow my mind when i get bored.
try a koosh ball.
my roomate and i tripped at this canyon the other night, each with a brand new koosh in hand.
when it got light out we couldnt stop laughing at the bastards.

The longer the better.

When I used to do acid once a month even that would cause psychological tolerance ("ehh, saw this last month...")... One year, or more should be enough to get you to feel like you're re-entering unfamiliar territory.

Just my opinion. Maybe you'll want to wait two years.

I was thinking about doing that in a few years. Just grow one last big crop of your favorite mushrooms. Dry em and then bury them them somewhere or put them where ever you want. Try and forget about them and just wait.

You would have to save some spores also just incase they become illegal or some crazy shit happens.

I waited over three years before my last trip, and I barely even smoked pot in those three years, pretty much gave up drugs altogether. The guy I was with had only done shrooms and acid once each before and that was about six years ago.
It was very much fun. We'd completely forgotten what it was like, so we didn't have to do anything at all to be entertained. I think we gigglingly discussed The Ceiling versus The Floor for about 4 hours, before deciding that The Couch was the place to be. Not quite like a first trip, but definitely as close as I've gotten, and, in some ways, even more fun.

That's what I thought once upon a time.  my first experience with acid was the 50th anniversary of bicycle day, three hits of blue shield, and i thought i would never go to that place again.  that trip was the definition of "the psychedelic experience" from multicolored fractal skyscapes to complete ego death.  i tried not tripping for over a year one time & when i finally did again i got that "wow, i forgot what this was like" feeling but it was hardly close to being like the first time.  Then I stumbled into some 2,5-dimethoxy-4-(n)-propylthiophenethylamine at a smartshop in amsterdam.  It worked, it wasn't exactly the first time again since the set & setting were completely different, but it was as close as I've ever come to recreating the wonder of that first trip.  The only other time I've gotten that close was on quite a few tabs of really good white blotter, doing huge ass bong hits of white widow during the peak, but it would only last until the widow wore off, then I'd be back on just the "experienced" level, not to mention me it cost well over $70 to have that psychedelic experience (three or for hits of blotter plus an 1/8th of widow).  Those little blue pills in amsterdam kept it going the whole duration.

keep in mind there's a lot of negativity toward this chemical floating around lately do to some deaths apparently related to it.  While kids ODing is not funny, what I do find humorous is that this drug as been available in smartshops for a long time & i think as far as percentage of population goes, the use in amsterdam far exceeds any use in the states.  So where are the deaths?  Why aren't people dropping dead in the Netherlands? Hmmm, maybe it has something to do with self education & responsible use VS. abuse. Social Integration Vs. Pure Escapism.  I think this OD phenomena is strictly a critique on american attitudes toward recreational drug use.  We always gotta push the envelope don't we?  So many great chemicals have been locked away from the masses & forced to exist in the public via underground labs with less than impeccible lab technique, then thrown on the market not for enlightment or growth but strictly driven by consumerism.  There are flocks of kids here waiting to crush up any new pill & stuff it up their nose without knowing a damn thing about it's structure or origin.  As long as we have no context, no social conscious regarding these drugs, we can not hope to have any positive effect on the WOD.

instead of just looking for a time to laugh your balls off or see some killer visuals dude
try to spend the time for some constructive purposes. go hike in the woods and begin to get aquainted with the beauty of our world and the way in which natural systems work in harmony. try to evaluate yourself in relation to the world.
ask some questions, look for some enlightenment.
take mushrooms with someone you love and be incredibly intimate.
there's no way that could get tired
decrease the frequency with which you trip

that's exactly what i'm talking about. strong visuals doesn't = first time feeling. i've had plenty of trips where the eye candy was better than my first time, my first time was a religious experience, a rebirth. everything was brand new, including me, something I hadn't experienced again until 2ct7

maybe you physically and mentally can't get back to the first time. if you still have fun on your trips why not just cherish it fondly and move on?
