microwave sterilisation with no moisture loss

microwave substrate/ honey water in a bottle with a balloon on top. anybody try this? a normal balloon can take about 0.1-0.2 bar raising the temp to about 103 C.

That`s a nice idea and worthy of a "dry" run. My guess is the balloon would pop, as water expands like crazy.

i tried it in a microwave this morning only for 3 mins. i put about 50 mls of water in a 200ml glass coke bottle i turned it down to defrost the second i saw bubbling. the balloon expanded about 1/4 full and it kept bubbling without getting any larger. sort of like a reflux chamber

ive done some experiments in school similar to that a long time ago. i believe that balloons will pop if a certain amount of water is evaporated. if not, they will probably just slip off or something.

put 400ml linseed and 200ml water into a 700ml vodka bottle with ballon. full power for 3 mins till ballon grew half way. set on defrost for 5 mins. balloon stayed the same. the balloon the got a hole in it, i presume the rubber weakened with the heat. it was a small hole and it didnt burst. i defrosted for 15 mins more. the balloon stayed half full with a little steam coming out from the hole. i innoculated and 5 days it shows signs of growth and no contams so far (so good)
