Cake too dry after shaking it up (mycobag)
    #3103137 -

a few days ago my bag was around 70% colonized with very nice and thick mycelium, the cake looked very moist and there were a lot of water droplets on the inside of the bag. However, i mixed the substrate up, to spread the mycelium and to stimulate growth. Now after about 2 days of stalling its at about 90%, but the cake and the mycelium looks pretty dry. There are hardly any water droplets. Whats wrong? Should i inject the bag with some water? If so, how much?

Thanks

I don't use bags but, I would think no. Because, where can the water go inside of a closed bag???? I mean if there was plenty of water a few days ago......

Don't worry someone with this type of experience will get with you soon

well there is an oxygen patch, so i guess moisture could escape...

I was going to wait in any event, but how long should i wait?

until it is fully colonized or has obviously dried uncolonized substrate.
if the second is the case just scrape away the dried stuff
the last thing you want to do now is take a chance on messing things up(adding more water ect..)

When casing with filter patches it is advantageous to keep them in higher humidity incubators. I've done 100's of bags and have always used wet heat incubation and even then I've still seen slight drying sometimes. GL tomekk
