Prisoner#1 thats the same thing as in the archive :

http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/23404

The problem is that i don't have the have a data sheet and the compagny who manufacture the blower is out of bussines

The only things i now about the blower : its a 115Volt 1.0Amp 1/6 hp belt drive motor that spin at 600 to 700 RPM and that can (suposed to) move 950 cubic foot of air per minute.

thanks

Search in google for blowers manufacturers and try to find a blower that matches your blower data, then look at the curve and you?ll know the airflow of the blower at your filter static pressure.
Or buy a HEPA H14 with the lowest initial static pressure possible, probably 1", and attach an air speed control to the fan. Test it and don?t forget the prefilter if you want it to last longer.

How many wires do you have on that SC? Some do have three speed settings by wiring differently. To make it simple for you you should be able to use a 12"x12"x6"-12"x24"x6" and be just fine. And yes always use a prefilter!

I've just purchased a filter is a 24''x24"x12" Micretain filter from Camfill Farr

http://www.camfil.com/script/productview.asp?prodid=137&catid=3&toppic=top18.jpg

Efficiency: 99,50 % at 0.3 micron

Airflow : 1080 CFM

at only .50 " W G ( about 125 Pascal ) half the resistance of a ordinary Hepa

i think its some kind of ULPA filter ( not sure thought)

what will be a the best blower for that filter ? (considering no pre-filter )

thanks

No it is not an ULPA (99.999% at .03) That filter isn't even a HEPA and will introduce more airborne contams than a simple glovebox! This is not an area that you will want to compromise. GL MO

I plan using a UV lamp between the pre-filter and the blower
and run a HEPA air purifier in the same room.

Is there a really big difference between 99,50% and 99,97% ?

any other filter to suggest ? --- ) http://www.camfil.com/script/productlist.asp?catid=3

thanks

Hey, if you can get your hands on something like that P#1, please share. As far as I know the Russians are the only ones to use that kind of stuff.

I assume you dont want to pay several thousand, look in marine supply for salt wate fish tanks... you can also find them listed as "uv sterilizers" from beauty supply stores

Running both will clean up your air very well and can work depending on your environments spore load count. By itself 95% and a cheap HEPA (99.97%) is a huge difference, understand you will be entering huge volumes of air at 5% and .03% respectively and in our field yes thats a huge difference. UV lamps are often mounted above the workspace and do aid in keeping everything sterile and protection (eyes, body) is required when working near them. I've heard from plenty of people that get by with 99.97% HEPA's with little to no contams so thats where I would start, just a suggestion?

but the label on the filter say:

( Efficiency tested

efficiency : 99.48 % at 0.3 micron
8/9/2004
machine: Camcount )

ill be entering 0.52 % not 5%

if i replace the pre-filter by a small Hepa air purifier ?

The hepa will push air through the blower box and then the blower will push semi-clean air through the micretain filter . good idea ?

thanks

the only reason why i bought this filter is because its 0.5 " W.G
and i thought that my 980 cfm blower will not be powerful enough to push through
a 1.0" W.G Hepa filter.

Am i right ?

Do you know what the static pressure and airspeed at that flow rate is for that blower? You'll need these specs to calculate the matching HEPA filter size.

"With an efficiency of 95% on 0.3 micron particles, the Micretain will capture 99% of all bacteria." Thats what the ad says. Anyway if thats what the actual filter says (99.48%) your much better off and with a actual HEPA also running in the room you should be fine. Like I stated earlier you would be fine running a 24"x24"x6" 99.995% filter and that I would guarantee. Either way your good to go and If you do have any problems double check your sterile culture technique and upgrade. GL MO
