Okay, so it's not anti-kerry or anti-bush, but in either case you were here to flame one side or another when all I was looking for was some pro Bush folks to give their own personal reasons for voting for him. The goal was to provide some perspective and appreciation for other people's opinions without having it degenerate into mindless bickering. I guess I was expecting too much?

If I were an American, I would vote for neither Kerry nor Bush, but for Badnarik. However, I can provide a couple of reasons to vote for Bush --

-- His response to the terrorist attacks

-- His lowering of taxes

Let me again repeat that these two reasons aren't sufficient to make me vote for Bush rather than Badnarik, but they are enough to make many others do so.

Thank you. Here are some more, I actually picked these up from a similar thread on another forum.

Quote:
He enacted tax relief for families by lowering tax rates for all taxpayers, increasing the child credit, and reducing the marriage penalty.

Phased out the death tax, helping to preserve family farms and businesses.

Encouraged business growth by providing incentives for small businesses to invest.

Made the stock market stronger by cutting taxes on dividends and capital gains.

Passed the strongest corporate governance reforms since FDR was President.

Proposed his Jobs for the 21st Century initiative to improve education for high school students and train workers for industries creating the most new jobs.

I think you've been replying to the wrong poster. You had asked people to supply reasons to vote for Bush. Retread did so in his very first post and you've been giving him shit for it ever since. Here is what retread had to say --

Quote:
A few reasons to vote for bush? He brought the war to the terrorists. He toppled arab theocracies that oppressed women for centuries. He has a strong pro-gun attitude and won't be impeding my Constitutional rights so that only his cronies can carry firearms.

Now, you may disagree that those reasons are sufficient to convince someone to vote for Bush, but you can't deny they are reasons. He provided what you asked for.

Ugh, that might be true. I blame migraine + lack of sleep. Or maybe I'm ust so used to thinking of those things with all the negatives that are attached (10k+ dead iraqis, 1k+ dead coalition troops, etc). Possibly a bad first impression from his saying he didn't support bush and didn't belong in this thread, so to speak. Unlike bush though, I can admit I was wrong!

Have my babies retread?

The reasons I would give swing voters to vote for Bush:
1. A win for Kerry would be construed as a political defeat for the war on terrorism
2. Bush isn't going to pull out of Iraq prematurely leaving it a mess
3. Bush won't raise taxes, and will probobly cut them
4. Kerry has shown that he values the interests and opinions of our critics in Europe over our own.
5. Kerry drug policy will be the same as Bush's
6. Kerry's terrorism policies are a throwback to the Clinton years
7. Although Bush may be a big spender, Kerry will definately be worse
8. Bush is consistent and he isn't going to instantly backtrack as soon as the poll numbers change. I think Bush's resolve makes ours a stronger country.

Those are my reasons.

SUV's
Yesterday In Michigan Kerry Said He Owns The "Big" Suburban, And His Wife Owns A LandRover. Kerry: "I own a Dodge 600 that I've had for about 20 years. I own a Chrysler 300M. We have a Chrysler van, a minivan, a Chrysler PT Cruiser, I guess Chrysler's making out here; a Suburban a Chevy big Suburban, and she has a Landrover Defender." Paula Tutman: "Now when he referred to she, he of course is talking about his wife. John Kerry made it a point to say all of the cars he personally owns and has purchased are American."
(Local First News At 6 PM, WDIV-TV (NBC) Detroit, 4/28/04)

But At An Environmental Rally Kerry Claimed "I Don't Own An SUV." "During a conference call Thursday with reporters to discuss his upcoming jobs tour through West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan, the Democratic presidential candidate was asked whether he owned a Chevrolet Suburban. 'I don't own an SUV,' said Kerry, who supports increasing existing fuel economy standards to 36 miles per gallon by 2015 in order to reduce the nation's dependence on foreign oil supplies."
("Kerry Says His 'Family' Owns SUV, Not He," Associated Press, 4/22/04)

Kerry Said His Family Owns SUV. Kerry thought for a second when asked whether his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, had a Suburban at their Ketchum, Idaho, home. Kerry said he owns and drives a Dodge 600 and recently bought a Chrysler 300M. He said his wife owns the Chevrolet SUV. 'The family has it. I don't have it,' he said."
("Kerry Says His 'Family' Owns SUV, Not He," Associated Press, 4/22/04)

In February During A Visit To Michigan Kerry Bragged Of Owning Several SUVs, Including Chevy Suburban. "Q. What kind of vehicles does your family drive? A. We have some SUVs. We have a Jeep. We have a couple of Chrysler minivans. We have a PT Cruiser up in Boston. I have an old Dodge 600 that I keep in the Senate. ... We also have a Chevy, a big Suburban."
("Kerry: 'I Can Beat George Bush,'" The Detroit News, 2/5/04)

2004 Chevy Suburban Gets 16 MPG. (Fuel Economy Website, www.fueleconomy.gov, Accessed 3/10/04)
It's A Family Thing: Wife, Stepson and Daughter All Drive SUVs. "My wife drives an SUV. My stepson has an SUV. My daughter is currently driving an SUV."
(Sen. John Kerry, Congressional Record, 3/12/02, p. S1758)

FALSE
2. Bush isn't going to pull out of Iraq prematurely leaving it a mess
Kerry said he wouldn't either, its too late to pull out
3. Bush won't raise taxes, and will probobly cut them
Kerry will only increase taxes on the top (none of us) and give breaks to the middle class (us)
4. Kerry has shown that he values the interests and opinions of our critics in Europe over our own.
We're not on this big ball of rock alone, we need our allies
5. Kerry drug policy will be the same as Bush's
No more Ashcroft medical marijunana raids
6. Kerry's terrorism policies are a throwback to the Clinton years
Clinton attacked Bin Laden and the bitch ass repubs cried "wag the dog"
7. Although Bush may be a big spender, Kerry will definately be worse
Not likely, CLinton balanced the budget
8. Bush is consistent and he isn't going to instantly backtrack as soon as the poll numbers change. I think Bush's resolve makes ours a stronger country.
Bush's money motivated decisions make us look worse
Those are my reasons.

You seriously think Kerry's gonna say, "Alright terrorists, we're sorry.  You can go on terrorizing us in peace"?

Quote:
2. Bush isn't going to pull out of Iraq prematurely leaving it a mess

Has Kerry said he would do this?

Quote:
3. Bush won't raise taxes, and will probobly cut them

Which would only be a good thing if he cut spending accordingly.  However, his record indicates otherwise.

Quote:
4. Kerry has shown that he values the interests and opinions of our critics in Europe over our own.

Ah, so it's only people in other countries who criticize our foreign policy?

Quote:
5. Kerry drug policy will be the same as Bush's

Hard to tell.  I'm not expecting any radical change from a Kerry administration, but he has made some rather sympathetic comments about marijuana use, both medicinal and recreational.  We shall see.

Quote:
6. Kerry's terrorism policies are a throwback to the Clinton years

You mean 8 years of peace and prosperity?  God forbid!

Quote:
7. Although Bush may be a big spender, Kerry will definately be worse

If he does increase spending, it will probably at least be with money the government presently has, rather than borrowed money which will collect interest and have to be paid back later.

If we vote out an incumbent who has a very aggressive attitude towards terrorists, who created the War on Terrorism, they will think their strategy is working and that we are weak.

He said we would be out in 6 months.

Kerry has made it an issue that 'foreign leaders', presumably Chirac and Schroeder prefer him over Bush. The President is supposed to cater to people in THIS country.

Quote:

Maybe you remember the first WTC bombing, the Embassies in Kenya or Tanzania, the Marine Baracks in Saudi Arabia, the USS Cole or Clinton's 'bold' attacks on Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and Sudan?

the only reason he created the war on terroism is because planes flew into fucking buildings!! until then he was ignoring warnings and FBI briefs ..clinton was more of a terror warrior than bush, until 9/11..cmon, wake up
