Swing Voters: Why vote for Bush?
    #3077886 - 09/01/04 02:22 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

I suppose someone could start another thread like this, but for Kerry and that'd be fine. Anyway, the point of this thread is for all the pro Bush people to post examples and reasons why the average person should vote FOR Bush. And, "He's not a fuckstick like Kerry" doesn't count. I'm talking about legitimate policy decisions and their actual affects on our country and the world at large. Don't forget sources for your claims. And for the Pro-Kerry (or Anti-Bush) crowd, this isn't the place to refute, bash or talk shit. The idea is to present hard backed up facts that speak for themselves. If something comes up you just HAVE to dispute, start another thread.

So alright, convice the swing voters already!

I'm not going to vote for Bush, so I really don't fir the mold of who you are trying to speak to here. I think that the question "Why are you voting for X?" is almost always answered with "Because Y is a fuckstick". This shows that it's just the less of two bad choices. A few reasons to vote for bush? He brought the war to the terrorists. He toppled arab theocracies that oppressed women for centuries. He has a strong pro-gun attitude and won't be impeding my Constitutional rights so that only his cronies can carry firearms.

But, I'm not voting for Bush, so there.

Almost sure either John or Teresa Kerry owns and drives an SUV. Guess they'll be voting for Bush.

Why, because he took a few photos of himself attempting to shoot clay pigeons? If John Kerry had proof that he would gain one more voter than he would lose if he supported all-out gun control, he would in one second. In fairness, I'm sure George Bush would as well.

Way to completely ignore the point of this thread guys. :P

What I'm looking for is NOT a bunch of bush and kerry bashing and flame wars. I can get that in any other thread in PAL. What I was trying to get was honest, factual reasons for voting for Bush. Ie, what he's done for the country since he's been in office. Maybe you support the ban on gay marriage and view it as a good thing, I don't know. But the point is to post actual things Bush has done to better our country and society.

Still waiting

John Kerry once said that he would support or initiate a ban on all firearms with removable magazines. Why do you think that Bush is against free speech? the PATRIOT act? Do you think that Kerry's voting for that act somehow makes him better than bush?

bush's assault on free speech is through "decency regulations" the FCC tries to uphold

I did, it was all pro-kerry anti-bush. Which is fine, it's just not what I'm looking for out of this thread. I'm trying to foster civility and an environment where bush supporters can calmly and easily lay out the reasons they support their guy. Pretty simple really. If you're not a bush supporter, as you even said, then there is really no point to posting in here. As I said before, there are plenty of other flame-filled battleground threads for bush/kerry drama to be found in PAL and even OTD.

:rotfl: I think your in the wrong forum then.....

Ill give you one reason i support bush...the war in Iraq.  Iraq violated our peace treaty with them by firing on our pilots patrolling the skies and denying us access to inspect weapons.  As far as im concerned we should have invaded in 1998 but better late then never.  Although Kerry is for the war too....

point 1: Perhaps, I think I am a bit spoiled by another forum I post on..

point 2: Thank you, it's that sort of thing I was looking for in this thread. I just think it's important for people to step back and really think about why they support the people/party/ideals they do. If you don't know why you're voting a certain, you shouldn't even vote in my opinion. Though I prefer people be educated and vote for what they believe in, regardless of whether I agree with it personally.

there are no concrete policy decisions that one could use
to base a vote for bush on.

I mean, really, I haven't seen one single policy that he's
enacted that has had any positive benefit on society.

ask a bush supporter to name what he's done to make things
better and the first thing out of their mouth is usually something
to the effect of 'kerry is a douche'.

that being said, I don't think this thread can go much further
than a descent into bashing candidates as there is no other
possible tract for the discussion.

Regarding that last bit, that reflects a sad failure on all of us if it's true. Considering how passionately pro Bush supporters can be, there must be SOME things that he's done that the pro Bush crowd view as positive, even if no one else does. If they can't provide even that.. then I guess that also relays a good bit of information and insight to swing voters (which I'm not).

Since you can't even read a post and tell what I mean in it (it's qUITE clear that I hate kerry much more than I hate Bush) I don't think you should be so picky. Iwas giving you reasons why anyone might vote for Bush. Re-re-read my post.

the american political system is much more of an us vs. them
mentality than it is a matter of issues.

it's sad when you consider the fact that there really isn't much
difference between 'us' and 'them' anymore.

it's one big polished media popularity contest riddled with sound
bites and photo ops while lacking any real attention to the fate
of the nation.
