I have been eyeing these mushrooms for a while behind a chainlink fence, and some finally fruited outside the damn fence last night. Habitat: They were on some kind of woodchip/grass/leaf mulch. The ones I grabbed were growing as a cluster. The mushrooms seemed to be growing gregariously behind the fence. Cap: The caps were partially burnt by the sun when I found them. Does that mean bruising black? The healthiest one was a tan beige color, which is visible in the scan. The largest cap was about 2.5 cms across, if that. Gills: Gills a deep tan color. Did not seem as dark as the gills in my other post. The gills were attached to the stock as you can see in the scan. It was impossible to twist off the stock and I ended up clipping it off with the scissors. You can see the remnants of the stock in the scan. Slight widening of stock toward the base. Stock: The stocks are tough stringy little bastards, 1.5-2.5 mils in diameter. My longest stock was about 4 cm. The stock on the largest specimen was almost 4 cm long. Annulus: Nothing I could see. Thanks a lot.
I have a nice sporeprint to go with this, but I am all out of upload space today. I will add the print tomorrow. Purple brown spores, I think. Wallace

After taking a closer look, I'm going to say Agrocybe, inactive.

Is it possible that the same mushroom could have attached gills in one find, and unattached in the other? Some mushrooms vary, don't they, even though they are genetically identical. The mushrooms in the above post dried a really dark color, while the others are still kind of yellow. I am anxious to put my sporeprint up, but that is going to have to wait. The other mushroom really looks like Agrocybe semiorbicularis. Thanks for the steer. That is not a dung mushroom though according to my guide. Would it still fruit on dung? Wallace

I was hoping for better on my first ids, something like one galerina and one active one. Instead it appears I have the same mushroom, and a garden variety at that. I am guessing agrocybe semiorbicularis, the picture of which most resembles what I have. Please look at these prints.

To me, they look purplish, but my guide says that the agrocybe should generally be yellow brown. Do you think they are the same mushroom, judging from the prints? Agrocybe fit the bill? Thanks, Wallace
