Are you going by your favorite, or technical skill, or appeal? Everyone's lists are probably gonna be limited to what they like to hear. So I'll list the best songs by skill/appeal that I like. I don't know enough hip-hop to make a list of that, but I can do the other two. Rock 1 Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven [a melodic dream] 2 Pink Floyd - Time [Dave Gilmour and Nick Mason -- what else can I say?] 3 Beatles - Tomorrow Never Knows [technically way ahead of its time] 4 Jimi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower [some of the best guitar work in a song, ever] 5 Mamas and Papas - California Dreamin' [melodically WAY head of its time] House/Trance/Electronic 1 James Holden - Nothing (93 Returning Mix) [best technical production I've ever heard in ANY genre of music] 2 Accadia - Into the Dawn (James Holden Remix) [has to be heard to be believed] 3 Underworld - Juanita/Kiteless/To Dream of Love [16 1/2 minutes of bliss] 4 Rabbit in the Moon - O.B.E. [still gives me goosebumps 11 years later] 5 Air - Modular Mix [best downtempo song] Oh and that Oakenfold song you listed isn't by Paul Oakenfold. The song title is indeed LSD but the artist's name is Hallucinogen AKA Simon Posford AKA Sphongle. Oakenfold used the song in a couple psytrance sets many years ago and that's where that mix-up comes from.

That's a good list, Max I saw this thinking "ohh yeah this is gonna be fun!" but now thinking about it... good god I don't know if I can do this! I just bought a new much smaller, more portable CD case to pick out ones I want to listen to out of my GIANT 500 CD novel.... It was so hard, I didn't want to leave any behind. TOP 5 (in no particular order) Rock (classic) Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here Beatles - Tomorrow Never Knows Led Zeppelin - Stairway To Heaven Jimi Hendrix - Machine Gun (live at Fillmore) Cream - Crossroads Rock (modern) Tool - Lateralus Rush - Spirit of Radio Radiohead - Paranoid Android Rage Against the Machine - Killing in the Name of Metallica - Orion Singer/Songwriter-Folk Ben Harper - Burn One Down Nick Drake - Pink Moon Bob Dylan - Like a Rolling Stone Joni Mitchell - Big Yellow Taxi Dave Matthews - Warehouse Jazz/Funk Miles Davis - Bitches Brew Herbie Hancock - Chameleon Medeski, Martin, and Wood - I Wanna Ride You Dizzy Gillespe - Swing Low, Sweet Cadillac George Clinton - Atomic Dog Rap/Hip Hop 2Pac - I Get Around Notorious BIG - Pig Poppa Wu-Tang Clan - C.R.E.A.M. Roots - Dynamite Busta Rhymes - Dangerous Ambient/Experimental Electronic Boards of Canada - Music is Math Aphex Twin - Come to Daddy Orb - Back Side of the Moon Sigur Ros - Staraflur Autechre - Rae Electronica (techno, big beat, trance, downtempo...) Chemical Brothers - Sunshine Underground Crystal Method - Trip Like I do Prodigy - Poison Underworld - Born Slippy Shpongle - Dorset Perception
-------------------- Blas'?trid (bl?s tr?d) n. 3rd generation derivitave of a combination of 'bastard' and 'blasted'. Used as both an insult or an expletive. ex. Blastrid! Stereopattern <--My music.

Nice choices!
Lets see:
Rap; 1. Bone Thugs 2. Fabolous 3. Baby Bash 4. Nate Dogg 5. Ludacris
Rock; 1. Metallica 2. Tool 3. KoRn 4. Eagles(I put that here cause u can't call it rap or techno) 5. Unsure??
I don't listen to techno enough to have favorites.
